Quantum
I added this memory to my computer along with my old in dual channel configuration and powered it up. The computer ran for two seconds and then shut down. I hit power again and it kept running. There is now no video and no beeps, it just runs. I don't think it is going throught the post. I took out the old memory and tried to run it with my regular configuration and it just runs with no video and no post. I think the new memory damaged my old memory and/or 600 Nvidea card, or the main board. My old memory is 2x256meg DDR 400 made by Geil. I just bought the new memory from newegg less than a month ago. It had really good reviews but there were a couple of people that had similar problems. I would appreciate any information that anyone can give on my situation. I can't really determine what is going on because the computer won't start with either memory now. I am taking it in to have a diagnostic done on it. Wish me luck. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 Please try and reset the system bios with just our modules installed and see if the system will post and let you set the memory voltage to 2.7 Volts. Quantum
I already tried reseting the bios with just the new ram and then my old ram. Still the computer just runs with no video or posting. Anything else I could try. Ram Guy I sent an email to you about 2:00 today with more detailed information. I guess I shouldn't post other memory providers names. I thought it would help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 Can you test the modules in another system?
Quantum
I don't have another system but I might try my neighbor and see if he has any extra memory to test on my system. I don't really want to risk fowling up someone else's computer. I usually sell my old computers when upgrading and don't have anything sitting around. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 It would be unlikely that all four modules have failed at the same time, and based on what you have posted I would suspect the problem may be with the MB and or CPU. Quantum
Those are my thoughts also. I am wondering if I should take it to a computer repair shop and have it diagnosed. I would then know what is exactly wrong and I won't replace good parts. Does Corsair cover any damages other than memory if it is what caused the main board to fail? I am just wondering because I spent all my money buying the ram and I need the computer for my business. Do I have to talk to someone else for this info? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 No I am sorry this is the risk that you take when you build your own system. If our modules have failed we will be happy to replace them is all I can promise. However, physical damage is not covered.
