Yellowbeard
Have you loaded the new bios for your motherboard? The new bios may help with RAM compatibility. intox
hello, i try this ; DRAM max clock: 400 MHz DRAM Voltage: 2.7 Volts SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T ( AMD platform) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T defaut for other setting. my config : A8n sli deluxe - amd 3800+ X2 I lauch the bios via a ram no name i change the bios i shutdown i and remove the old ram. I start whith the corsair and it's cool thank you ramguy

Unatek
Hey Intox, Bump your CAS# Latency(Tcl) up to 2 It should work fine with your setup:sunglasse
Unatek
Thought I'd post my setup in bios to help you out. Timing Mode [Manual] Memclock Index Value (Mhz) [400Mhz] CAS# Latency(Tcl) [2] Min RAS# active time(Tras) [6T] RAS# to CAS# delay(Trcd) [3T] Row precharge time(Trp) [3T] Row cycle time(Trc) [11T] Row refresh cycle time(Trfc) [14T] Read-to-Write time(Trwt) [5T] Write Recovery time(Twr) [2T] 1T/2T Memory Timing [2T] (System not stable at 1T. Known A8N-SLI Deluxe issue.) S/W DRAM Over 4g Remapping [Disabled] H/W DRAM Over 4g Remapping [Disabled] DRAM Voltage [Auto] 2.75v should work fine, but if you start to have problems bump it up to 2.8v and see if that fixes any stability issues. I am also running the 1016 bios for the motherboard. Hope these settings work for you. I checked these settings extensively by running Prime 95 for 24 hours straight. No lock ups or bsod as well as no errors detected by Prime 95.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2006 What slots do you have the modules in? And have you test them one at a time? And the voltage should be set 2.7 Volts minimum. In addition, with the CPU you have I would set the command Rate at 2T as well.
Unatek
intox, I have the AMd 64X2 3800+ cpu. The AMD 64's can handle the CAS 2 unlike the older AMD 32 bit chips.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2006 With four modules I doubt you will get the system to run at CAS 2. In addition, you have to set the command Rate to 2T as well as set the Voltage to 2.8 Volts. And with all of the X2 CPU's on the market right now you may have to run at DDR333 as well. Unatek
Thanks for the boost in conifidence RAM GUY!! I'm not doing anything special for my system to be running stable with 4 sticks and I swear it is working fine. Oh and all of my chips are v5.2, my POST shows I'm running at 400MHZ (dual channel) and the voltage is set to auto which I believe it is getting from SPD. I've made sure I was maxing out the ram with Prime 95 and since I have a dual core I ran aquamark3 in demo loop in conjuction with Prime 95 for 2 hours yesterday. RAM utilization was around 95% with no errors detected. I had to set Prime 95 to 1700MB of ram usage to get it there, but I tried to suck up as much as possible. I double checked my system with ASUS probe just now and it shows all 4 memory modules running at "Current speed 50ns". Is there another program out there that you trust that can tell me what the memory speed is running at while in windows? Sorry to hijack your post intox :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 27, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 27, 2006 Everest Home or CPU-Z, but CPU-Z is not as reliable sometimes with new chipsets.
Garvin
Additionally with this board, if you update the bios to 1015 or 1016 the bios will limit the speed to 333mghz with "full loading" (four sticks) even if the cpu is capable of running the matched four sticks at 400mghz. See bios version 1015 description notes: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Unatek
Garvin, You are correct in saying that when 4 sticks are installed(full loading) the Motherboard will default to 333Mhz. However, here is a direct qoute from the ASUS FAQ for A8N-SLI boards. The question was: "Why does the memory run at 333MHz if I use four DDR400 512MB/256MB memory modules on A8N-SLI?" Answer: "To be more compatible and stable with some memory modules, the default clock will be at 333MHz if four DDR400 memory modules are plugged on the A8N-SLI. But you still can set at 400MHz manually in the Bios to gain better performance. Moreover, in order to get best performance and compatibility, please choose those memory modules which are verified by us. You can get the QVL from the link below." I have my memory settings to manual and 400Mhz. CPU-Z even confirmed this. Hope other people can get the same stability that I have with the settings I posted earlier. By the way, here is the link for the FAQ http://support.asus.com/faq/faq.aspx?model=A8N-SLI%20Deluxe&SLanguage=en-us
Wired
Was that FAQ written before or after the BIOS update came out though?
Unatek
The reply came after the 1015 BIOS dated 2005/11/04. The reply is dated 2005/11/14.
