Delta-V
I just assembled a new system. The motherboard is a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum. I bought the TwinX2048-3200c2pt memory. With the memory installed, the computer will not POST. I get one long beep and it halts at the memory test according to the diagnostic LEDs. I've tried: each module in slot 1 one in slot 1 and one in slot 2 one in slot 1 and one in slot 3 Always the same result. However, when I try a pair of CMX512-3200 DIMMs, it works fine. And when I put the TwinX2048-3200's in another system, THAT system works fine. So, is there a way to tell if it's the memory or the motherboard that's the problem? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 12, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 12, 2005 What bios version do you have installed? And will the system post with just one, either one of the CMX1024-3200C2PT modules installed?
Delta-V
What bios version do you have installed? And will the system post with just one, either one of the CMX1024-3200C2PT modules installed? Bios version is 1.A. I've reset the BIOS a couple of times, but that didn't help. And no, the system won't boot with either of the CMX1024 modules installed by itself, or in any combination with the XMS512 modules. I think the motherboard is allergic to the platinum in the heat spreaders... ;):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 Wait!! You cannot mix memory with this MB all of the modules would need to be exactly matched. You cannot mix 512 meg and 1.0 gig modules!
Delta-V
Wait!! You cannot mix memory with this MB all of the modules would need to be exactly matched. You cannot mix 512 meg and 1.0 gig modules! Well, as I said, it doesn't work with either of the 1gb modules by themselves either. But, oddly enough, it works fine with a mix of 512gb modules (2 XMS CL2 and 2 ValueSelect CL2.5). I haven't tried it, but I suspect it won't work if I just hold the 1024gb DIMMs anywhere near the motherboard with the 512gb DIMMs installed. I've tried: 1) 1 1024gb module in slot 1 2) The other 1024gb module in slot 1 3) 1 1024gb module in slot 1 and the other in slot 2 4) reversing the modules in (3) 5) 1 1024gb module in slot 1 and the other in slot 3 6) reversing the modules in (5) 7) 1 1024gb module in slot 1, the other in slot 3 and 512gb modules in slots 2 and 4 8) 512gb XMS modules in slots 1 and 3, and 512gb VS modules in slots 2 and 4 Only (8) works. But I've tried both 1024gb modules in a MSI 865PE Neo2-LS board and they work fine, both singularly and together.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2005 With just our 1.0 Gig modules installed one at a time please try and reset your MB bios and see if it will post!
