yanek
I've got an ASUS A7V8X-X with an Athlon XP 2000+. Currently have some random CL3 Crucial 512MB stick in there. Want to upgrade to 2GB. Thinking about: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory (Twinx2048-3200c2pt) Will this memory work in my existing board? If/When I upgrade to this board: ABIT AN8-ULTRA Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard (AN8 - Ultra) Will the memory continue to work? I *think* the answer is yes on both accounts, but I need a sanity check before I run out and buy it. Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2005 Yes these modules will run in the currant MB but you may have to run them at DDR333 because of your CPU speed and they will run for sure in your new system. But you canot add to the memory you have now.

Actually, the thread starter will have to run the new memory at DDR266, not DDR333, on his current motherboard because all Athlon XP 2000+ processors use a 133MHz/DDR266 front-side bus (FSB).
