Sanchito
Hello, got a slight problem. A ways back when I rebuilt my system I got a dandy pair of matched xms, model CMX512-3200C2PRO. These sticks rock. Today I got in the mail another set of xms, TWINX1024-3200C2, aka CMX512-3200C2. So I installed them. Windows chokes, BSOD when it gets to the windows logo. Booting to safe mode yields the same result. Are these sticks that different that I'll need to return them for the C2PRO? Or does windows not like having 2 gigs of memory? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Lemme know if you'd like more info, and thanks.
Sanchito
So here's the fun bit. System boots fine with just one of the new sticks installed. gonna have to memtest it at the very least.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2005 You should not mix memory with any of thse newer systems. Can you tell me our modules part# and revision of all of your mopdules? (How To Read the Memory Label)
RJLeong65
So here's the fun bit. System boots fine with just one of the new sticks installed. gonna have to memtest it at the very least. The part number may be the same, but your sticks are likely of different revision numbers. (For example, your earlier sticks may be of v1.2, while the new sticks are probably of v5.1.) The mismatch will make most modern motherboards hiccup.
Sanchito
Both are sets of TwinX, my original pair are: CMX512-3200C2PRO, XMS3202v2.1, 0431112-3 My new pair are: CMX512-3200C2, XMS3202v5.2, 0541017-0 So how do I go about getting sticks of the same revision number? Can you tell me our modules part# and revision of all of your mopdules? (How To Read the Memory Label) As I mentiond before you should not mix memory with any MB today. What is the make and model of your MB and the CPU you have? If you have an AMD64 all of the modules would need to be exactly matched sorry but that is a memory controller limitation. Sanchito
I can practically guarantee that one of the sticks is defective. I can boot normally with the good one installed, but when I swap it for the other the system hangs before POST can even be completed (hangs immediately after the memory test). I'm gonna dig up a floppy drive so i can run memtest86, I'll let u know what happens.
