AndyW
Hi there. Posting from work as I cant keep my system stable enough at the moment from home. i have had this system 6 months (self-built). It is not overclocked in any way, and never has been. Running 2 x 0.5 GB Corsair DDR (400 speed I think) while playing WoW (yeah yeah so Im a gamer when not a work, so sue me :p) and recieved an exception error. Rebooted the machine and it went into a reboot cycle, this lasted 3 times. Managed to get the machine up and running and reported the problem to microsoft, they 'determined' it was a memory error, so I downloaded their memory check program and ran that. Over 21 test runs I have Test Name Cache Result MATS+ On Fail INVC On Fail LRAND On Fail Stride6 On Fail WMATS+ On Fail WINVC On Fail MATS+ Off Fail Stride38 On Succeed WStride - 6 On Fail ERAND On Fail Stride6 Off Fail Bank 0/1 Slot A0 Errors 1887331 (over 21 test passes) The other bank showed zero errors. Now I haventhad chance to test each stick individually in different banks (I'll do that tonight) but as you can see I believe there is a failed memory module here. I cant deal with the firm I bought the sticks off as they have probably the worst customer service i have ever recieved off any firm in my life, but as you can see i am based in the UK, help please! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2005 Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
AndyW
CMX512 - 3200C2PT AMD Athalon 64 3500+ All settings set to automatic I have taken out both memory sticks, replaced one, it came up faulty after a new memory test. I swapped that one out, placed the other in the same memory slot, that came up clear.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2005 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
