recieved a bad memory module

Recommended Posts

I recieved a pair of CMX512-3200C2PT Twinx (1024MB) and exprienced random crashes when playing games or running certain programs. At first I thought the problem resided in a different place. So I updated all my drivers and the problem persisted. So I ran memtest and found 400+ errors from the test. I believe that I have recieved a bad module

My system specs are as followed

Elitegroup ECS KV2 Extreme motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 3500+

Geforce 6800GT

Test it with the correct timings (1 at a time in the same slot), as you didn't list them:

CAS Latency (tCL): 2

RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3

Row Precharge (tRP): 3

Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6

Memory Voltage: 2.75 Volts

All other settings to defaults.

To make sure that the module was defected. I went ahead and tested it on my old computers motherboard. Results were the same so I then tested the to good module and 0 errors popped up. At this point I am almost certain that it is a bad stick of RAM
