cubby1223
I wish to ask a question for my own knowledge. If I purchased a dual channel memory kit, and for whatever reason the two memory sticks get separated, could I return a single stick for warranty replacement if it became defective? Wired
Yep, people do it all the time, just don't expect the replacement stick to instantly work with the other stick, as they aren't matched anymore. It's highly recommended to RMA both at the same time, but not mandatory. In otherwords, yes, you can buy a TwinX pack and sell one away and be able to RMA your stick by itself (albeit the 3rd party wouldn't, as buying the memory from a 3rd party voids the warranty on that stick). Also keep in mind though that it's never recommended to mix memory from different manufacturers, or different part #s / version #s (hence why they test/sell TwinX packs). Wired
Keep in mind it's a bit different for value select memory though.
cubby1223
Thanks for the reply. I am guessing your warning about Value Select memory only concerns dual channel setup, and not warranty policies, correct?
