gaestar
Hi, First of all my config : mobo : asus a7n8x power : antec 480w gr card : ati radeon 9800 pro proco : amd xp 2800 I replaced recently my old memory with 2*512 MB of twinx CMX512 - 3200c2 and experimented problems with memtest86 v1.60. I tried both modules and received a lot of errors when using the "by spd" setting on my mobo. Then I changed the settings to configure them manually with 2,5-3-3-6 and obtained errors on test 3,4,5 and 6 on 4 different memory addresses. Ram fsb is configured at 166 MHz, synchronized with the cpu fsb. I tried to change the slot but problem stays. If I place back my "old" corsair memory ( 2*256 mb cmx256a 3200c2 ), memtest gives me no error at all on 3 passes. In addition, I performed some stability tests with occt and my old ram and it worked perfectly. With the new one occt stops after a few seconds in torture mode ( occt is used to test cpu but I guess he's also using the ram ). My concusion is my system is working fine. I think my memory is probably defective, could you confirm or do you want I perform some other tests ? Thank you for your answer Kr, Gaestar
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 1, 2005 With this MB and CPU the Memory frequency has to be in sync with the CPU or it may not be stable. Please try these settings and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. CPU Freq: 166 MHz System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz Memory Timings: Manual/User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T
gaestar
Hello, I tested both sticks separately with given values ( the same I had except for DDR voltage I put to 2,7 V ) on two different slots and both ram sticks gave me errors with memtest86. The modules are recognized and windows run flawlessly at the moment but these modules are not 100% reliable. What can I do now ? Thank you Kr, Gaestar
gaestar
Hello, I tested this ram on another configuration but errors appear at the same addresses. The config was also tested with original noname ram with success. It seems thus well the ram is defective. Thank you for your help Kr, Gaestar
