jferello
I just bought a Gateway 835GM recently and love everything about it. However I noticed that my machine is slower than a friends at loading and playing all games. So I did some research and found out I have DDR2 RAM that is currently clocked at 4-4-4-12 and that is really slow. I want to buy the TWIN2X1024A-5400UL set but I worry that it will not work at the fastest speed listed because I cannot change anything in my BIOS to make it go faster. I have read that the above set comes with SPD settings of like 4-4-4-8 or something for compatibility and if you want to experiment you can change your settings in the BIOS to get the 3-3-2-8 settings. Can I use this RAM in my computer? If so how would I get it to run at the 3-3-2-8 settings? Can Corsair change the SPD settings in the factory and send them to me? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 30, 2005 I am sorry but most OEM systems will not support setting the memory voltage and or timings and that would be requied to run these modules. Please look up your system on our Memory Configurator and use a module that is suggested.
