vguna
Hello. I'm thinking of upgrading my system to 2 GB of Memory (now I have 2x512 Corsairs, see my specs). I've head that there are incompatibilities with the Mainboard and a mixture of (2x512, and 1xGB) RAM. So I'm planning to sell the two and buy new 2x1024 RAMs. My question is now, will the VS2GBKIT400C3 work with my mainboard? I can't find them in my boards compatibility list on the corsair page. What's behind the VS2GBKIT400C3? A TWINX2048-something? And how is the performance decrease changing from my current memory to the CL3 Value Select RAMs? Is it worth the money (100 EUR difference between VS and CL2.5/2 memory)? Thanks for your help.
CMC_SAVAGE
My question is now, will the VS2GBKIT400C3 work with my mainboard? Yes, they'll work. What's behind the VS2GBKIT400C3? A TWINX2048-something? Not even close. They're just 2 1GB Modules of the Value Select. And how is the performance decrease changing from my current memory to the CL3 Value Select RAMs? Is it worth the money (100 EUR difference between VS and CL2.5/2 memory)? Well the timings are higher. 3-3-3-8 vs. 2.5-3-3-6 (TWINX2048-3200C2's). Unless you totally utilize the full 2GB, the RAM you have now would give better performance. Another option would be to get another 512 stick of what you have now.(for 1.5GB). The v5.1 are fairly new. You could still probably find this. (v5.2 are the newest).
vguna
Hi. I just want to let you know, that I've bought the VS1GB400C3 modules (2*1024 MB) and they work like a charm. They passed 18 hours memtest86+ even with 2,5-3-3-8 timings. For 180 EUR it is excellent value!
