nojak
Hi. Just had a question. I remember hearing something about how there was an issue with the memory controllers on Intel 865PE and 875P chipsets that caused a performance hit when using all 4 DIMM slots because it overloaded the controller or something. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Looking to get another dual channel kit, and was wondering how it may affect things. Thanks.
RJLeong65
Those problems when using four double-rank DIMMs are typical with all DDR(1)-400 memory controllers. Under such circumstances, the memory clockspeed will drop from 200MHz (DDR400/PC3200) down to 166MHz (DDR333/PC2700).
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 29, 2005 Yes, I would watch the Memory Basics Presentation as well as that will help explain this.
