terstegen
I am looking to build a system with the following parts. Asus P5WD2 Premium Intel 820 (Dual core 2.8 ghz) ATI All in Wonder x800XL 2 hard drives running raid 1 Want to get 1 GB of ram. Should I get the TWIN2X1024A-5400UL / DDR2-675 (XM2S-5400UL) / 3-3-2-8 or the Corsair TWIN2X1024-8000UL 1GB Kit DDR2-1000 XMS2-8000 Xtreme Performance Memory? I want this system to be extremely stable so overclocking should only be at a minimum..... Both 1gb kits are the same price..... Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 29, 2005 I would suggest our XM2S5400UL set of modules as they will support more relaxed settings at higher frequency.

I had no clue what I was doing when I built this system and I used the least expensive Ram at the time. I would like to increase the amount of ram and I don't know if I should get another gig of the same or should I get 2 gigs of a different type? If I get a better ram do I need to remove the old? What is a good amount of Ram to run with this mobo? I mostly use my PC for multimedia and surfing. I record alot of TV and I stream video to a media center extender. I want good stable performace without spending a fortune. Thanks for your help.

LTB-P5WD2
One more question. What is the difference these different ram?Corsair Twin 2x2048: 6400c46400cPro6400c6400c36400 If I understand some of these have features that will only work with motherboards that have NVIDIA. EPP SPD’s . I don't know what this is and I do not know if the P5WD2 Premium even supports this. Hopefully you can clear this up for me. It will probably help me eliminate a few choices.
