dbratton
I have a CMX512-3200C2 module that fails MS Windows Memory Diags. As I imagine you know, this is a 6 test diag. This module fails 5 of 6 tests. I have tested the module in a known good socket (my other CMX512C2 works in it flawlessly.) Must I DL and run memtest or is this test satisfactory for you? The module was purchased about 6 months ago from Fry's. Please advise what else I need to do to get a warranty replacement of this module. Thanks. dbratton
When I have two identical modules and test them in the same mobo slot and one fails and the other doesn't, why run another test? Are you saying that memtest is the only test you accept? Microsoft's memory test is not good enough? Please explain, because this seems redundant to me. dbratton
Ok, rather than wait for an explanation, I reinstalled the defective DIMM and ran memtest. It failed. No surprise there. So, I have one CMX512-3200C2 that tests clean and one that doesn't. I tested both modules in the same mobo slot. Please don't go into all the settings. Obviously, if one works and the other doesn't it is not my settings. I checked them early on in the process of troubleshooting anyway. What do I do to get an RMA for a defective DIMM, please?
