tenorman
I just recieved this memory(XMS1024-3200c2pt) and tried to install it in the 3rd and last remaining slot in my working Gigabyte GA-7VAXP system. The other two slots being populated by 2 identical XMS512-3200c2 pieces(twinx1024-3200c2). The new memory stick was firmly seated with the white tabs in the closed position. Yes, I did ground myself and actually wore a wrist strap clipped to the frame of the case. When I powered up the system the fans went on, the optical drives responded, but no video. Then that horrible smell of electonic parts and plastic. I shut down the system and removed the new module to find that one of the gold contacts on the connecting edge is burnt and the plastic on the dimm slot is melted slightly. Now the system won't boot with a single stick or even with the old memory in the exact same configation it was in before I started. I powered up the system without any memory and got long beeps, but no video. I assume from this that the proccessor is still alive, as are the optical drives because the lights go on when the system is powered up. This model motherboard has a backup BIOS chip that's supposed to kick in if corrupted in some way. I purchaced the memory from Newegg.com and called them but they told me I had to contact Corsair. Can you help?

Wired
email rma@corsairmemory.com, they can probably still look it up. If not, they can just make a new one.
tenorman
Thanks Wired. Ya know, it's actually a moot point. Sorry for the fuss. I realised that I had in fact replied to the original response and there was a copy in my sent folder. That's a relief. I sure didn't need any additional delays with getting this system back up and running. I'm still waiting with my fingers crossed to see if gigabyte will replace the motherboard for me.
