ocpnews
CM2X512-5400C4 I just got these modules a few weeks ago and was installing them today when one side of the heat-spreader came off of one of the memory modules. It looks like Corsair trusted this white goop to hold the heat-spreader onto the actual memory modules... Can I get some clips sent out for my modules to hold the heat-spreaders on? I don't really want to RMA the memory for this reason, but the memory looks pretty stupid with only 1/2 of the heat spreader attached, and I don't really trust putting the other 1/2 back on in fear that it will fall off onto other components. ocpnews
Response time here is usually 1-2 days or up to a week? I'm tempted to clean off the modules and superglue this thing back on - Any thoughts? Any Warranty issues in the future by doing this?

KrazyBrian
I'm tempted to clean off the modules and superglue this thing back on - Speaking from experience Superglue is a VERY bad idea as it does not correctly transfer the heat from the ram module to the heat spreader. I know i'm not a tech here, but i was reading over, and that is not a good idea and will most likely void warantee.
ocpnews
The superglue was just a thought - nothing has been done thus far so no harm. Waiting patiently for instructions....:sigh!: Ramguy?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 29, 2005 Sorry about the late response. You will need to RMA these modules as this is a physical defect and adding glue or adhesive of any sort will void your warranty. Please follow the link in my signature "I think I have a bad part, what do I do" and we will be happy to replace them or it.
ocpnews
I called into Frys - The were willing to take the module back if it was giving memory errors, but were not willing to take it back because the heat spreader fell off. So, an email with the RMA form was sent in to the RMA dept. Thank you!
