CMC_SAVAGE
The default settings for the Value Select should be fine.
RJLeong65
The default settings for the Value Select should be fine. It should. But I would bump up the DDR voltage to 2.7V just to be safe. (Many motherboards actually deliver slightly lower voltage to the memory than what the BIOS-labeled setting says; for example, the labeled 2.75V is actually between 2.71V and 2.73V.) tonytol
Was going to post the same question, but here it is, so I'll piggyback in this thread. Planning to buy the VS2GBKIT400C3 for an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe running an AMD 3700+. No memory installed yet. It's described on Scans website as "2Gb (2x1Gb) Corsair DDR400/PC3200, 2x128Mx64, non-ECC, 2x184 DIMM, Unbuffered, CL3" However, it doesn't show up on the Corsair memory configurator, and my motherboard manual says 'Due to CPU limitation, DIMM modules with 128MB memory chips or double-sided x16 memory chips are not supported' Confused....help.... RJLeong65
However, it doesn't show up on the Corsair memory configurator, and my motherboard manual says 'Due to CPU limitation, DIMM modules with 128MB memory chips or double-sided x16 memory chips are not supported' Corsair does not make any x16 modules - single- or double-sided. All 1GB modules from Corsair are of the x8 variety. As I mentioned in another thread, x16 or x8 uses the industry-standard definition of per rank (side). This means that a double-sided x16 module has 32 IC chips on it. In addition, the A64 memory controller requires high-density (256Mb or higher density) memory. 128Mb memory is considered low-density. Thus, the A64's memory controller does not support 128MB modules at all unless such modules have fewer than 8 chips total. Also, assuming an x8 memory module configuration, 256MB modules must be single-sided in order to work on the Athlon 64 motherboards.

All 1GB non-ECC modules from Corsair are of the x8 variety; all ECC modules are of the x9 variety. (Compatible 512MB and 1GB modules in an x8 configuration may be single- or double-sided.)
tonytol
Thanks RJLeong65. I think that means I can use the VS2GBKIT400C3 ? It's been recommended by a few people as compatible on the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe , even on this forum, but I'm not clear why it's not appearing in the configurator. I want 2GB of memory, but am not likely to overclock, so I only really need cheaper/value memory but would prefer to go with a brand name.
Yossarian
I recently baught an a8ne mobo and 2x1gb value select ram(after checking this thread). I have been unable to run the ram at 400mhz. When I do my system is unstable, memtest shows lots of errors. I reduced the speed to 333mhz and it seems to work. I would like to know how I can run this ram at the correct speed. I suspect it is not compatable with this motherboard afterall.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 Have you tested the modules one at a time? And what bios version do you have installed?
Yossarian
They both work fine on thier own, its when you have 2, either single or duel channel they show erorrs on memtest and cause games to crash. Im using bios version 1008. Thanks for your help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 I would make sure than you have the latest bios and then laod setup defaults and set the memory voltage to 2.7 Volst and see if that will solve the probem. But if both modules run one up but not when installed in a pair that would suggest some other problem. I would test them in another system to be sure.
