ryanolf
I'm fairly positive I have a bad ValueSelect 512MB PC3200 module (CORSAIR D400 512MB VS512MB400). My computer was having intermittent freezes, so I ran memtest86 v1.6, and I have errors in all the tests, even the basic ones. It seems that at a few memory locations (all close together in memory), a single bit refuses to be set, so writing 11111111 yields 11011111, or something like that. This is the case in BOTH slots on my motherboard. I ran the exact same test on the same hardware, but with a different module (also PC 3200, same timings), and there were no errors. I also ran the tests on the ValueSelect module with several different timing settings (well, I can only control the CAS latency, but I tried it at 2.5 and 3 with both "failsafe" and normal bios settings). I'm going to request an RMA using this post id. I'm going to be driving through Fremont tomorrow... would it be possible for me to save the shipping hassle and just drop it off somewhere? Wired
I don't think so normally, but I doubt they're open tomorrow anyway.
ryanolf
I forgot that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, though I guess that's why I'm driving through. Maybe there's a mail slot or something? If not, what's the best way of shipping the RAM to Fremont? That's only 40 miles or so from where I live.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2005 I forgot that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, though I guess that's why I'm driving through. Maybe there's a mail slot or something? If not, what's the best way of shipping the RAM to Fremont? That's only 40 miles or so from where I live. Let's go ahead and have that set replaced. Please follow the link in my signature, "I think I have a bad part what do I do?" and we will be happy to replace this for you. As for a drop off of the part you will need to discuss your options with our customer service department. When filling our your RMA simply list your shipping questions in the notes field.
