Problems with TWINX-3200XLPT rev 1.1

Help...I'm having problems with my mobo recognizing a 1 GB kit (2 modules) of CMX512-3200XLPT (XMS3208 v1.1) memory. Used to work fine but now I'm having one of the following:

1. Computer boots into WinXP Pro SP-2 but it is unstable in memory intensive applications - I played a skirmish map in LOTR:BFME as a test (used 900MB physical ram) and after about 20 min I received a memory exception error.

2. Computer reboots itself automatically.

3. Doesn't boot up at all - black screen, no display, no POST.

I'm not able to run memtest or any other memory diagnostics since I'm now on the 3rd case above and cant get into windows anymore with this memory. I tried resetting the BIOS, resetting config data, tried the memory detection on both auto and by SPD...nothing. BIOS is up to date. I also tried putting this memory (also in dual channel configuration) in my other gaming rig (Shuttle SN25P) and same results as above.

However, my other gaming rig uses a 1GB set of the exact same memory I am having problems with (2 CMX512-3200XLPT modules) but they are each rev 1.2. I borrowed this memory, plugged them in, and no problems (passed all 3 scenarios above incl. memtest, BIOS detects the memory timings either in AUTO or SPD at 2-2-2-5 no problems). I also borrowed a 1GB pair of Corsair Value Select memory from my mom's computer and no problems (passed all 3 scenarios above incl. memtest) so I know its not a problem with my mobo. My mobo is a Shuttle AN35N 400 v1.1 and I used an ESD wriststrap when working with the memory modules the entire time.

Is it possible (if I have to do an RMA) to get these modules replaced with revision 1.2 or later, since that seems to fix the problem? I dont know where this memory was purchased from since I received them as a gift quite some time ago, brand new from an OEM reseller I believe but I cant be sure. My full system specs are in my profile. Many thanks for your assistance in this frustrating matter.

There's no proof the version change will fix it. Only that the v1.1s that you have are busted.

Yea that's a good point, it could be these specific ram modules and just coincidence rev 1.2 works fine. So should I test this memory on a different motherboard (i.e. non-Shuttle) and see if I continue to have problems first before requesting an rma? I can try to run these in my mom's Intel P4 system, it may be a Shuttle thing :sigh!: Thanks ram dude.

OK thanks ram guy! Better safe than sorry I guess. Is it okay if I leave Date Purchased and Where Purchased as N/A since I dont know this information? I will go ahead and start on the RMA form later this afternoon to give you adequate time to reply. I still have the original packaging for the memory btw. Thanks again.
