DBatten57
I purchased a new computer back in May of this year, put it all together, and everything was running fine until just this past month when I started getting all kinds of windows Stop messages (blue screens, etc.). I figured it was a hardware problem, and it turns out it was. I was using CMX512-3200CPT (2 sticks) when the problem was occurring. To stop the blue screen, I took out that RAM and threw in some cheaper sticks I had lying around and sure enough the computer runs fine, no more blue screen. Is the Corsair RAM dead? - I also tried testing each individual stick to no avail...same blue screen(s).
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2005 Please try the following settings. You can set them in your BIOS, if you have trouble locating one of the settings consult your manual or please contact the support team of your motherboard manufacturer. DRAM Voltage (also called DDR VOLTAGE): 2.75 -------------------- DRAM Clock: 200 MHz / DDR400 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2 (2.5 in an AMD system) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3 SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6 All other settings are motherboard defaults. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
DBatten57
I tried and tested the RAM on those settings, and the same errors were occuring, especially the windows stop messages, and the computer would also repeatedly restart itself. I tested each ram stick together, and then on its own, and the same errors/problems were occuring. My other RAM sticks still work fine... it seems the corsairs are still not functioning
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 10, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 10, 2006 Wait, you should not mix memory with this platform. Please try the system with just our modules installed and you will need to reset your bios when you chnage modules and load setup defaults and then set the settings I gave you and test with http://www.memtest.org. Settings for XMS3200C2 DRAM Voltage (also called DDR VOLTAGE): 2.75 -------------------- DRAM Clock: 200 MHz / DDR400 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2 (2.5 in an AMD system) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3 SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6 All other settings are motherboard defaults. Settings for XMS3200 DRAM Voltage (also called DDR VOLTAGE): 2.75 -------------------- DRAM Clock: 200 MHz / DDR400 SDRAM CAS Latency: 3 SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3 SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8 All other settings are motherboard defaults. DBatten57
I didn't mix the different types of memory in the system. The corsair memory was only in there with either both of the sticks of the XMS3200C2, or each one by itself (to see if one was working and the other not). The RAM I use now (that works) was never mixed with the corsair in my testing. Shall I still run the memory test on the Corsair with those settings? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 13, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 13, 2006 Yes and you will need to reset your bios and load setup defaults when you change memory. Then set the settings for the specific module you have and test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure.
