Troy S
My current setup includes an MSI 865PE chipset mobo, P4 2.4C proc and 512MB of Corsair TwinX512-3200LL dual channel memory. I have not really OC'd the system (204FSB) but I am running my MAT (memory acceleration technology) in ultra-turbo mode thus giving me 2-2-2-5 1CMD RAM timings. It's time to upgrade the memory in my system, preferrably to 1GB+. I'm a little behind on my memory technology. I have seen some writeups on Anandtech about TCCD chips, etc. but I'm really unfamiliar with it and that's where I'm you all for help. I'm not really sure which memory to buy nowadays. I am looking at the Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPT since it will also run at 2-2-2-5 but I'm not sure that my current memory can run at 2.75V... it's now running at 2.7V. Additionally, is this memory TCCD or not and how does it stack up against the competition? Anyone care to chime in and tell me what they feel is probably the best bang for the buck memory-wise for my system and even if adding to my existing RAM is a possibility? Once again, I'd like to keep my memory timings close to what they are now but I really don't want to pay much more than $200 or so for 1GB of dual channel RAM. Thanks! Wired
3200XL is TCCD. HOWEVER, it's never recommended to mix memory of different part #s. There's more to compatibility than just timings and voltage. Also, all corsair memory is warrantied up to, but not over, 2.9 volts, so 2.75 is fine.
