pparks1
I have a 1GB flash voyager and I absolutely love the device. It's very fast and works great. The problem that I have, which seems to be common, is that the USB connector itself is just about ready to fall off my drive. It's very loose in the rubber boot and is going to fall off before too long. I've only been carrying the device in my pocket for a month or two. I know form reading these forums that Corsair will gladly replace it for me under their warranty.....however I'm concerned that unless this design is changed it's just gonna break again. Does anybody have an official response to this problem? I certainly haven't mistreated the device and from reading these forums, this particular problem seems to be all-to-common for a device that is expected to be carried daily in your pocket. Wired
It's not common at all. I've seen maybe 10 posts like yours since they came out many moons ago. I'd guess they've sold 500,000 or some ridiculous number like that since then. 1 / 50,000 is pretty rare IMHO. People that don't have problems don't post. Also, carrying them around has nothing to do with the USB connection coming loose, as they have caps that protect them.
pparks1
Good, it doesn't sound like it will be a problem when I get it replaced then. I realize it has a cap. However, I pulled it out of my pocket one day and the cap was still attached, but the tip was somewhat bent because the USB connector has come loose from the rubber housing around it. The cap was still on, but it wasn't straight. So, I assume that it got bent from carrying around in my pocket. I guess mine may have always been loose and just bent easier because of that. I'm gonna keep using it until it quits and then will get it replaced and hopefully I won't have any other problems. I'm confident things will be ok, that drive has been fantastic thus far and everybody I show it to is impressed with it.

pparks1
For what it's worth, my voyager just bit it yesterday. The metal USB tip broke off from inside the rubber boot. When I reached in my pocket, the drive was there with no cap and no tip. Another reach into my product produced the metal usb tip with the rubber boot still on top of it. Even though this doesn't appear to be common, i've seen numerous posts of this lately. Somebody just posted some pics of what happened when his broke and it pretty much looks just like mine. I did get an RMA and will be sending the drive back in. It's just too bad it broke cuz it is only about 3 months old. I certainly hope the next one lasts longer. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2005 We are selling a large volume of these more then 250,000 last month, so I would expect to see some reoccuring issues. And we are looking into this to make sure its not a quality issue FYI. But the number is still verry low compared to what we sell, less than one tenth of one percent. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
pparks1
Ram Guy, Just wanted to let you know that I got my replacement yesterday from Corsair. The tip is now nice and sturdy inside of the rubber casing. I'm trying to figure out a way to protect the new unit a bit more, rather than just carrying it in the open in my pocket. Hopefully I can come up with something. It's great having 1GB of storage with me at all times. I have to hand it to Corsair, they certainly stood behind the product. This is the reason that I suggest/recommend/buy Corsair memory for all my stuff. Their quality is excellent and the service is great.
