markrstephen
I just purchased a Compaq Presario SR1610NX desktop, with an AMD Athlon 3200+ motherboard. then purchased a set of Corsair “Value Select” Ram for an upgrade. I got the Ram from NewEgg.com, it is listed as: Item #N82E16830125440 D400 512MX VS1GBKIT400 184 PIN DDR Sdram Dual Channel When I put the Ram it the computer would not boot up. The screen went black and showed a lot of indecipherable lettering. It then went to windows but said there was an error trying to start. I have added Ram to computers and never had a problem. Is there a compatibility issue here ? Thanks.
CMC_SAVAGE
Did you mix it with the original RAM? If not, you would need to get the System Select RAM. The BIOS is too limited to adjust any RAM settings. You could also look on Compaq's site for a RAM QVL table for your system.
