docker
Hi Ram Guy :D: I have built a system with a Abit IC7-G MOBO, P4 3.2E Processor & 2 pairs of Corsair TWINXMS2048-3200PRO (Total of 4gb of memory, Maxed out). My systems is fine & is stable. What is bugging me is that when it boots up the Post screen only reports 3.5gb of Memory, Do you think that there is a problem with my MOBO and that it needs a flash upgrade. How ever on Windows XP Msinfo it reports 4gb of physical memory, that is the only place that it shows, in the BIOS it reports 3.5gb & also on the property of My Computer. Is there something wrong with the Memory or MOBO? Help
CandyKid
Welcome to the forums, docker! Don't worry, this is a chipset limitation. The memory displayed from BIOS should be 4GB minus several reserved areas minus video RAM, etc, etc, etc... It's perfectly normal and since Windows correctly sees it, you should be just fine. You might note, however, that Windows XP won't cache any more than 2GB for program use... so... do you need all that memory? PLUR CK

PLUR CK Hi CK Well just got carried away, :D: well I was thinking may be a could create a ram drive for my page files, well windows does report it was 3.5GB in taskman, properties of My Computer but the only place | seem to get any reassurance is that MSinfo states 4gb physical memory.
