CompuHandy
Hello and thanks for your help, I just bought a Corsair 2GB 133x SD Card for use in a PDA (Dell X51). I also wanted to try it in a camera (Pentax), but when I formatted it in the camera, it would no longer show up as anything other than 954MB in Windows when I put it in my card reader. I tried wiping the card using a flash wiping utility so I could reformat it, but got nowhere. Windows (XP Pro) will no longer allow me to use it as anything other than a 954MB card. Is there some way to wipe the partition table so I can get it back to 2GB? Or is there something wrong with the card that has made it malfunction. I think I won't ever put it in the camera again, but how do I solve this now? Thanks again, CompuHandy
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 21, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 21, 2005 When you format the drive in windows select fat32 and then you should be able to see the full size, and the PDA sounds like it will only see fat 16 not fat 32. CompuHandy
When you format the drive in windows select fat32 and then you should be able to see the full size, and the PDA sounds like it will only see fat 16 not fat 32. I have formatted it with fat32, and it still only shows up as 954MB. The PDA does recognize fat32 just fine (this is according to Dell and my own testing). Nothing I have done to it using native Windows utilities has improved this situation. Please advise. Thank you, CompuHandy P.S. I work on computers for a living (I own a small business called Computer Handyman), so I'm not in the dark about how these things are supposed to work, but I thought maybe there is something I don't understand about flash memory, that is why I asked the question the way I did.
