Belayman
Hey… My system has recently become severely unstable lately, and I have come to the conclusion that the memory is causing errors. System Specs: Tyan Thunder K7 (S2462UNG) motherboard (AMD MP chipset) 2x Athlon MP 2600 Corsair CM74SD1024R-2100\S PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 A4 Windows XP Pro, SP2 Various HDDs and optical drives About 12 weeks ago, the system began “freezing” (which it had never done before). The freezing became worse with time… until (now) the system freezes about every 6~8 hours… sometimes more often. Tests in every memory slot (the Tyan Thunder K7 has four) resulted in MemTest errors in tests: 1, 2, 5, and 8. (I realize that tests 5 and 8 simetimes are "false positives" on AMD chipsets, but these errors, combined with the errors in Tests 1 and 2, indicate problems with the memory.) ECC enabled or disabled – the results were the same… MemTest errors (I used the latest MemTest from memtest.org.) The Tyan BIOS does not allow the user to alter the memory timings or voltage. The motherboard has no “bulging” or blown capacitors, the CPU temperatures are both around 40-degrees C, and the power supply is giving rock-solid +5V, +12V, and -12V, as it should. The DIMM has the following markings: (first sticker) 231397823 Warranty Void If Removed (second sticker) CORSAIR PC-2100 (third sticker) CM74SD1024R-2100\S 024115 PC2100R-25330-C1 It was purchased from Monarch Computer Systems, Inc, on February 27, 2003. They said to contact you guys about an RMA. Thank you for your time.

Belayman
Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it. And yes, I didn't specifiy above (because they were tested individually, and together)... but, I have two (2) identical Corsair Reg ECC DIMMs ... both Corsair CM74SD1024R-2100\S ... and both failing MemTest and causing "freezes" (both tested individually and together in MemTest and in the system). Thank you... I'll proceed with the RMA process. (Just for the record... I think this is a great forum (great idea) - a quick and easy way for users to get help from qualified Corsair Reps, and a great way to start an RMA process, if it is necessary.) Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2005 If you are getting errors with both modules I would suspect some other problem, even if new modules solve the issue short term, in my experience with this MB when this has happened previously the MB has turned out to be failing.
