pm.hybrid
hi ive got a set of twinx 256meg modules, they are CMX256A - 3200LLPT revision 1.1 the default timings are 2-2-2-6 1T. I have had these sticks for a couple of years and have served me fine in several PC's. They are currently sitting in an XPC shuttle FN95, and had been running fine for approximately 3 months before i started getting some trouble. My computer became very unstable, sometimes failing to boot before crashing, other times running for several hours problem free. But in the last week or two it has deteriorated rapidly and now will no-longer make it any way past the boot screen without restarting or blue screening. I have narrowed it down to the memory causing all the probelms, so i took them to a shop in the town where i live (nottingham, UK) and they tested them and gave them back saying that one stick fails MEMTEST at default settings and this is why my computer is crashing. They told me that they believe the stick has deteriorated over time after i told them that they had been running fine for nearly two years. They also told me that corsair have a lifetime guarantee which i was totally unaware of, so i am very thankful to them. I think i should point out that this was not the place the memory was originally purchased from, i have no idea where it was purchased as it was a birthday present when i built my first computer. I have filled in a TSXpress form, but i thought i would post here as well while i wait for a reply as to what i should do next.
Wired
Just have to wait a couple of hours basically :) Based on your post, the TSXpress form should be approved pretty quickly. FYI, it's 10:42 AM EST, 7:42 AM EST as of this post. They won't be in their office for another hour or so :)
pm.hybrid
thanks for the quick response, i will go and watch some tv or something for an hour or two, i guess corsair doesnt have a UK office then? If and when i get an RMA thing approved, i take it i have to send both sticks back to you guys for checking etc? How long does this take and such? I guess there is probably a sticky on the forums about it but ive not had much time to read through any so a link would be much appreciated  Also if they do turn out to be dead, what sticks would i be likely to get sent back? i know these sticks are BH-5, which are no-longer produced by corsair, i dont mess round overclocking really, especially not with a shuttle for a pc :P but i like having dead low 2-2-2-5 latencies, and i just want to know if i need to prepare myself for getting memory back with slower timings? Send both sticks (mark as quantity: 1, TwinX512-3200LLPT). They'll replace them regardless if they pass tests or not. Correct, 1 office, Freemont, California, USA. Dunno what the int'l shipping time would be. Not a clue what they'd replace them with, best to await their response and then ask (or Ram Guy will respond here). I'd guess 3200XLs though. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2005 All RMA's are replaced with the same part of faster if the part you send in is no longer available. You can send an email to Customer Service and ask them for more details about the time and what you will get back.
