Gleng
Hi guys, i cant seem to get this ECC ram to boot on my board. Have tried all sorts of configurations, 1 stick 2 sticks 2 sticks dual mode 3 sticks 4 sticks dual mode. So yeah ECC ram does not seem to work, even tho the asus site says pc3200 ECC ram will work up to 4GB. Please advise mr Ram guy. Thanks Again MOBO = Asus P4C-800 Delux Ram = 4 sticks of CMX512RE-3200LL Thanks Glen.
CandyKid
Welcome to the forums, Gleng! CMX512RE-3200LL modules are registered/buffered as well as ECC modules. Hence the "R" of the model name. The P4C800-Deluxe does not support registered memory. Also, as a point of interest, the technical specs will say that the i865 or i875 chipsets support ECC modules, but de facto they do not run worth a damn, if at all. For the home user, unbuffered, non-ECC is the way to go. Long story short, there are a few pieces missing from the ECC support loop in almost all of the motherboards using these chipsets. Gleng
wow thats a real punch to the nuts. Well thats a real shame, looks like the 2gb of ecc ram that we took out of the server is going to be sitting on the desk once again. Thanks for the quick response. Glen. CandyKid
Sorry for the letdown, but maybe it's a good time to work on a dual-Opteron system? Heheh, evil I know, but those are great modules. If all else fails, there's always eBay. PLUR CK

Your motherboard does not support registered memory at all (ECC or non-ECC).
