Mr_Roboto
I just got off of the phone with ASUS Tech support. After removing all of the components in the pc and replacing them one by one, we have determined that I have a bad stick of ram. When ever this stick is in the computer, no matter which slot, the pc will not boot. I purchased the part In a Corsair VS1GBKIT533D2 1GB Kit DDR2-533 PC2-4200 Value Select Memory Retail on 2/25/05. It is way past zipzoomfly's return period. Will I need to replace both modules, or just the one that will not allow the PC to boot? Any ideas? Mr_Roboto
I would like to thank you for the quick turn around on my RMA. There is still a problem though. One of the sticks you sent me is also bad. Whenever the module is in the computer, no matter which slot it is in, the computer crashes. I ran Microsoft's memory test and the module in question starts to fail at LRAND and then goes on to fail the other tests. So far 2 out of the six modules of Corsair Value Select memory that I have owned have been defective. :o(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 22, 2005 Please makse sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the memory voltage to 2.0 Volts and test the suspect module with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 4, 2006 Are you testing them one at a time?
Mr_Roboto
I tested the modules individually in each memory slot. Here are the results. Module 869-0546073-2-009904 A1-PASS A2-PASS B1-PASS B2-PASS 869-0546073-2-009907 A1-PASS A2-PASS B1-PASS B2-PASS 4829-0547078-1-4252538 A1-FAIL A2-FAIL B1-FAIL B2-FAIL 4829-0547078-1-4252539 A1-PASS A2-PASS B1-PASS B2-PASS When module 4829-0547078-1-4252538 is the only module installed, the PC will not POST and I can not run Memtest. When all of the modules are installed(3 good + 1 bad), Memtest fails with the errors in my previous post.
