kronky
Hello, As my computer hangs up without reason, I have tested separately the memory modules with memtest. One of the module returned some errors and the other a lot of errors ! I have tried with "Optimal" and "User defined" (with settings found here) settings in the bios. I have tested modules in each DDR-Slot on my motherboard without better results. My setup is in my profil.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 Please try the following settings. You can set them in your BIOS, if you have trouble locating one of the settings consult your manual or please contact the support team of your motherboard manufacturer. DRAM Voltage (also called DDR VOLTAGE): 2.75 -------------------- DRAM Clock: 200 MHz / DDR400 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2 (2.5 in an AMD system) SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3 SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6 All other settings are motherboard defaults. kronky
I have already tried these settings, except for DDR-Voltage because I can only choose 2.6, 2.7 or 2.8. I have tried with 2.6 and 2.7. Should I try with 2.8 ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 Actually the settings we gave you are not correct for the CPU you have. Please try these settings. CPU Freq: 166 MHz System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz Memory Timings: Manual/User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 What does it say the memory frequency is in memtest? And what do you mean when you say "it doesnt work"?
kronky
What does it say the memory frequency is in memtest? 166Mhz. And what do you mean when you say "it doesnt work"? Memtest returns the same errors with the "good" settings. But How to know if errors come from DDR modules or from another component (motherboard, cpu...) ? If I could, I will try with another DDR module or test mine in another motherboard. But for the moment, I can't.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 What test are you getting errors in? And do you have another system you can test the modules in? And have you tested them one at a time? Quel essai êtes-vous obtenant des erreurs dedans? Et avez-vous un autre système que vous pouvez examiner les modules dedans? Et les avez-vous examinés un par un?
kronky
have you tested them one at a time? Yes, I do. What test are you getting errors in? I use Memtest86+ v1.55 and memtest86 v3.2 One of the modules gives this results : Tst:4 FaillingAdress: 0000429ec78 -66.8MB Good: 40404040 Bad: 40404240 Err-Bits: 00000200 Count: 1 The other module gives a lot of errors in tests 3, 5, 6 and 7 at many different adresses, but the Err-bit is always 00000200. Results are the same on the 3 DDR-slots of the motherboard. And do you have another system you can test the modules in? No, I don't.

kronky
Hello I just received my now modules but one of them seems not fonctionning. :(: I have test them one at time : with one of them the computer doesn't start up at all, as if there were no Power Supply ! The second module is OK. (I have also tested my motherboard with a PC3200C2 pro cmx. It is OK).

kronky
The "good" new module seems to have problems too, my computer didn't start up a few minutes ago and made long beeps in endless loop that means "No DRAM installed or detected" according to the a7n8x user's manuel... Four bad modules ? Am I unlucky or could the problem come from my motherboard or power supply. Maybe an incompatibility issue ? In this case, is it possible to replace my twinx with another kind of module (with equivalent cost, of course) ? I own a CMX512-3200C2Pro (XMS3202v1.2) that I used while waiting for my new twinx. Can I add a second one to my system ? Motherboard: Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev2 bios 1008 power supply : Fortron 350W FSP350-60PN(PF)

But now, I am almost sure that the problem doesn't come from the memory. This morning, the computer didn't start-up with my CMXPro inside. :(: I needed to unplugged my power supply and replugged it in order to start the computer. I don't believe all the modules I own are broken down... I hope this is not my motherboard. :sigh!: What do you think about that ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2005 I would tend to agree with you, what you have posted would suggest some other problem. Can you test them in another system? Je tendrais à être d'accord avec vous, ce que vous avez signalé suggéreriez un autre problème. Pouvez-vous les examiner dans un autre système? kronky
I would tend to agree with you, what you have posted would suggest some other problem. Can you test them in another system? I have tested the modules in my parent's computer. One of the twinx module isn't detected by the system (no start-up and long bips...). I think this module is bad. kronky
The bad module is a replacement module and you said (see a couple of messages backward) : Please reply to the last email you got from our customer service and they will help you get them replaced at our expence. Do you agree to replace the "bad bad" module at your expence ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 26, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 26, 2005 You need to get both modules replaced not just one that may be why you still have a failing module. They will need to match. Please contact our customer servive tomorrow and I am sure they will do their best to help you.
