Digital Dreams
I have 2gb of 8000ul on an ASUS P5WD2 board. Processor is 3.8 with an 800MHz bus. CPUz reports my 'default' settings as being.. CAS latency 5 RAS-CAS delay 5 RAS precharge 5 Cycle time 18 No doubt these can be improved, but to what without risking problems ?. I have noticed settings posted but only for 1000MHz. Thanks
Digital Dreams
Anybody ?? Best 8000ul settings for 800MHz without risking corruption... Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 Just use the tested settings listed in my signature and set the Frequency at 800 Mhz.
Digital Dreams
So......5-4-4-9 at 800MHz, That's better than the 6400. I'll try with Memtest. Is it a general fact that these timings are not related to the frequency then ?, or that the timings at the rated frequency can be used at lower freq's without problem ?. Trying to get my head round the logic. Digital D
Yellowbeard
Is it a general fact that these timings are not related to the frequency then ?, or that the timings at the rated frequency can be used at lower freq's without problem ?. Trying to get my head round the logic. Digital D I'm not certain if it addresses your specific questions but fine the link on this page to the MEMORY BASICS Presentation. It is very informative. As to your questions, there is no easy yes or no answer as different ICs can show very different behavior. The timings given do not directly relate to the frequency at which the RAM is running. However, the timings (aka - latencies) do have an effect on how the memory will perform as you raise or lower frequencies. As you try to go faster and faster with the RAM, "typically" you must loosen the timings at a certain point. Inversely, "some" memory will run tighter timings at a frequency slower than its rating but, not all RAM will. So, there is no guarantee and that is why Corsair only guarantees the tested settings. Hope this help and that I did not confuse the issue. Mike.
Digital Dreams
Thanks Mike Shame Corsair don't list settings for all common frequencies....even if a list supplied with a particular module pair. I'm partly hoping for some replies from folk in the same boat, and what they have achieved with this ram at 800MHz......with zero corruption. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 8, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 8, 2005 We can only officially support the tested settings for the speed any specific module is sold as. You are welcome to try other settings but there is no guarantee. Sorry!
Digital Dreams
5-4-4-9 seems to be working well at 800MHz Anyone done better for 800MHz and achieved reliablilty ? Digital D
