DDY
Hi everybody... Ive been told by the FAQ to post her first for technical support, but is this proof enough that my modules are faulty? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/DDY/REDRAM.jpg That is running 4x VS256Mb400... I do not have the time to test out all 4 individually but i know at least 1 is faulty... So i apply for RMA right? Thank you David
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 5, 2005 Please see if you have the option to set the memory voltage and set it to 2.75 Volts and test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. DDY
Thanks for the quick reply... The ram was runnng at 2.6v. my bios only allows the Vdimm to change in 0.1v increments, running at 2.7v is ok, no? Running at 2.8v sounds like its going to void warranty. I already have narrowed down to 2 strips and testing them now...

DDY
I have just noticed somthing, although all four of the modules are VS256MB400 modules, the chips look differnt, the labels are printed diferntly and 2 of the modules have a gold corsair logo on the center and the other 2 dont. The thing is the 2 i found faulty were the ones without the gold logo, could those modules have been re-labeled because there is some sticky residue on the chips... Look at these pictures and spot the differnces. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/DDY/MEmory002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/DDY/MEmory001.jpg
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 Yes we have more than one BOM for this part#, so that is not uncommon. If you do an RMA I would suggest we get all of your modules replaced so they all match. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
