wiggo
I have been having crashing issue with my computer for sometime now. I finaly went ahead and upgraded most parts, and now the MB. My old MB was a Gigibyte GA-8Sq800, the new one is a ALBATRON INTEL915P PX915P4C Pro. For Memory I've been using Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT 512MB DDR400 XMS3200. With the new MB I still am having crashing issues. Mostly when running some of the newer games or heavy CPU work. I do not do any overclocking, and run XP SP2. I can make it fail everytime when trying to run one game called Guildwars. I took out the CMX256A chips and put in a new set of TWINX1024-3200C2 DDR400 XMS3200. My system now seems to run fine and I can't make it crash. Is there a test I can run to see if my CMX256A Twinx are bad? Or am I doing somthing else wrong? tks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2005 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have (Cass 2-3-2-6 with the Rass to Cass set to "3"), and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. wiggo
Thanks, I did not set the memory when I built this machine and for somereasone the bois picked up settings of 2-2-2-6. It also had a +.02 voltage as factory default. The Twinx512-3200LLPT fails the memory test software when run at these settings, but runs fine at 2-3-2-6 and +0.0 voltage. If I am going to put both pairs (the twinx512-3200LLPT and the Twinx1024-3200C2) in my machine what settings should I run with? tks Now really happy I have a stable machine!!! Going to play around with some overclocking, but just glad to be at this point.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2005 Cas 2.5-3-3-7 at 2.8 Volts would be what I would try. But I would not suggest mixing memory with any system.
