CentaurusA
How do I fix it exactly? I'm not exactly an overclocker, so I never really go into bios for anything, but I know that the memory timings arent what they should be. I checked it out on a few different programs, and compared it to what it should be, and its definitely off a bit. anyways, the memory timings are 3-3-3-8, but what its supposed to be is 2.5-3-3-6, and at 2.75V. First off, I don't know is what each number represents...I know it explains in your post, and I already knew it had to do with latency and whatnot, but I just want to be really careful about the whole thing because I dont want to mess up my system...look at the specs and you will see why I want to be careful:D: Anyways I have looked at bios, and looked at the memory stuff, and what really throws me off is that there are around 10-15 different numbers I can change, and I was hoping for just 4:p: Also, when arriving at this website today, I saw something about the latency can be at 2 instead of 2.5 for AMD...whats up with that? wasnt it 2 for Intel and 2.5 for AMD? I'm just really confused about this. Also, one more thing, and probably should be expected...how much of a performence gain can I expect from doing this? My computer is currently stable, and get about 192FPS in the CS: Source stress test at 1024x768 resolution with 4xAA and 8xAF with everything else maxxed...would be nice to break the 200FPS barrier. BTW...nothing is overclocked(dont like the idea of pushing a $3000 computer above what it is meant to do only to see it catch fire and have to throw it out the 2nd floor window) Any help would be greatly appreciated;): Thanks in advance
Wired
3-3-3-8 is the default. Go into bios, set these timings: CAS Latency (tCL): 2 RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 Row Precharge (tRP): 3 Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6 Memory Voltage: 2.75 Volts All other settings to defaults. This was due to a chipset limitation mainly in the Socket A systems / nForce 2 systems, but no longer applies for current in-production mainboards or any s939 AMD 64 CPU.
