JHL2859
I plugged my 1 GB Corsair Voyager into one of the USB ports of my computer that I had never used with the flash drive before. A message popped up in the taskbar, telling me that an unknown device had been plugged into the computer and to try reconnecting the device. I went to "Safely Remove Hardware" but my flash drive wasn't listed. Therefore, I simply removed the flash drive. I tried replugging it. That didn't help. I tried replugging it in a different USB port that had worked before, but nothing happened with the computer or the flash drive. I decided to try connecting the flash drive to a different computer, my laptop. However, nothing happened again. Finally, I tried plugging the flash drive back into the USB port that had initially come up with the unknown device error message. The unknown device error message popped up again. I decided to go into Device Manager and found out that no driver is installed for the "unknown device." How do I get this driver? Will it fix my flash drive? Or will I have to get this flash drive replaced?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 26, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 26, 2005 With the drive plugged in please go to Device Manager and remove the USB devices that are listed and then remove the drive and restart the system and try plugging it back in and it should go thru the process and automatically install the drivers it needs for the device. JHL2859
I did what you told me. However, Windows still won't install the appropriate drivers. Is there some way I can install the drivers manually instead of having Windows do it for me?
Wired
USB drivers are part of windows. you'd have to reinstall the chipset drivers IIRC to attempt to put new ones in.
JHL2859
Does that mean I have to replace my flash drive?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 27, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 27, 2005 No that means there is likely something amis with your install of Windows. Either a driver did not get installed or it was not installed properly. If the drive works in another system.
JHL2859
I tried using the flash drive on my laptop. Nothing happened. The flash drive didn't respond. The laptop didn't respond. The same goes for my desktop, except for that one port that gives me a "unknown malfunctioning device" error message.
