Kwaj
I currently run my system using 1 gig (512x2) of PC 5400UL. Upon recieving the RAM, I went into my bios and changed the latencies to 3-3-2-8 with a recycle set at 4 (Last setting based on that seen in RAM guys signature). And I did a linked system overclock to set my RAM at 675 MHZ, and I changed the voltage to 2.1 Volts. This overclocking has raised my processor speed from 3.46 to ~3.51 Mhz (Not a lot, just enough to get the ram to 675 from 667). I have since encounterred 3 lockups where my computer totally freezes, and I hear a hi pitched tone similar to that hear when ones ears are ringing. It has happened twice while playing Age of Empires 3 online (Both times withing 5 minutes of each other) and once while playing EQ2. The above mentioned overclocking is all the modification I've done. My system is liquid cooled and the processor sits at 34C under load and 28-30C in idle. What could be causing the lockup? (I post here because I suspect it is related to an overclocking setting I have used)
Kwaj
Right after posting this message I went to go play fear, and it locked up in the same way, again. It seems to happen approximately 5-10 minutes into the game. Although I've often been able to play EQ2 without problem. EDIT: Now it's locking up outside of game environments as well... Kwaj
Already tried that, set it to auto, which according to my bios is 19. Still froze.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2005 If the system is hard locking that would suggest some other problem, like maybe a power issue. In addition, I would not over clock your system untill you have a stable system.
