Argus-Solutions
A problem i am having is that we are getting no video output at all when i have two sims of VS256MB533D2. I am not even getting a post screen or able to access the bios. I have tried taking each sim of Ram out and trying it with just one at a time but still no good. Have taken both sticks of RAM out and the motherboard gives a response in that it starts beeping to indicate no RAM installed. The is power getting to the motherboard as when it starts up the LED's are woprking and the fan works. I then tried it with a 512Mb Sim and it booted up and gave me a display on the screen and i was able to continue. The mother board that is being used is a Intel D915GUX. Could someone please help me identify the problem or is it just faulty RAM
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 24, 2005 Using the other module that will post the system, please check that you have the latest bios and then load setup/optimized defaults and then exit saving chnges and turn off the power before it posts and install one of or modules and see if it will post with them one at a time. If not please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. Argus-Solutions
Have tried what you mentions. Update the BIOS. Then installed the two VS256MB533D2 one at a time. When i installed the first SIM of RAM i managed to get a display and everything seemed fine. I then installed the second stick so that both stick were installed and this time the was no video out put. I then took at the first stick i put in and tried again. Still no display i then removed the second stick and put back in the first stick and it gove me a display. I then decided to put the first stick in the channel where the second stick was to see if it was a problem with the channel rather than the RAM. This also worked in that i got a display. So it seems as though we have one faulty stick of RAM.
