alephnul
I am running an Asus A7N266-VM/AA motherboard with one gig of system ram in corsair vs512mb266 modules. System originally configured well and loaded Windows XP, ran well for approx 6 months. System started experiencing lockups and data errors at unpredictable intervals. I booted the system from a diagnostic cd (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and ran several of the memory test utilities found thereupon. All showed errors. I swapped the memory modules into each other's slots and repeated the tests with the same results. I forced the CAS latency to 2.5 and repeated the tests with the same results. I removed one module and repeated the tests with the same results. I removed the second module and replaced the first module that I had removed. The system then passed all tests. The conclusion that I draw from this is that the second module that I removed from the system has gone bad. I would appreciate the benefit of any guidance that you might have to offer.
