I have two sticks of ram. My computer randomly crashes and I receive kernel errors. I ran memtest86+ on each stick seperatly and received errors on one of the sticks of ram.

CPU Speed: 2.1 GHz

FSB: 400MHz

CPU External Frequency: 200MHz

CPU Frequencey Multiple Setting: Auto

CPU Frequency Multiple: 10.5x

Memory Frequency: Auto

Resulting Frequency: Auto

Memory Timings: Optimal

SDRAM Active Precharge Delay: 8

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay: 3

SDRAM Ras Precharge Delay: 3

SDRAM CAS Latency: 3T

CPU Vcore Setting: Auto

CPU Vcore: 1.650V

DDR Reference Voltage: 2.6V

I have not set any performance settings. All of the above settings are the default settings of the motherboard with the exception of the CPU External Frequency. The CPU is a AMD AthlonXP Barton 3000+ with a FSB of 200MHz. The CPU External Frequency is set correctly.

Thank You

Please try these settings after you load setup/optimized defaults.

CPU Speed: 2.1 GHz

FSB: 400MHz

CPU External Frequency: 200MHz

CPU Frequencey Multiple Setting: Auto

CPU Frequency Multiple: 10.5x

Memory Frequency: 100%/1-1

Resulting Frequency: DDR400/200Mhz

Memory Timings: Manual

SDRAM Active Precharge Delay: 6

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay: 3

SDRAM Ras Precharge Delay: 3

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T

CPU Vcore Setting: Auto

CPU Vcore: 1.650V

DDR Reference Voltage: 2.7V

Then test you system with http://www.memtest.org and if you get errors, please test them one at a time.

I've changed the settings to the ones you specified. I've run Memtest86+, it's done 33 passes and still no errors. That should be more than enough passes. What I'm wondering is, why are there no errors now. Isn't the memory already damaged?

I've got another question. I've got another system with Corsair TWINX1024-3200PT RAM (2x CMX512-3200PT). Could you give me some optimal settings for this RAM also? Nothing is wrong with the RAM, no crashes. I'd just like to make sure I have the correct settings in the BIOS. This system specs are:

CPU: AMD Athlon FX-55

Motherboard: Asus A8N-SLI

RAM: See above

CPU Speed: 2600MHz

Current DRAM Settings:

Max Memclock (MHz): Auto

1T/2T Memory Timing: Auto

CAS# latency (Tcl): Auto

RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): Auto

Min RAS# active time (Tras): Auto

Row precharge Time (Trp): Auto

Other Current Settings:

DDR Voltage: Auto

CPU Multiplier: Auto

CPU Voltage: Auto

CPU Frequency: 200MHz

Thank You
