Bad 512mb PC3200 sodimm, VS512SDS400?

Recommended Posts

I have a 512mb stick of Corsair Valueselect installed in my IBM Thinkpad T40 along with the default 512mb stick of ram. When I run memtest86+, I get errors in tests 3 and 4 I believe. I confirmed that it was the Corsair ram that was bad by running IBM's memory diagnostic on the slot that the ram was installed in. Errors were found with the Corsair stick while the ram that came with the laptop passed the test.

The computer will occasionally hard lock without any warning, forcing me to power off and reboot the computer. I had no problems with the laptop until I installed the Corsair module.

Are there any settings I should be aware of to make this module work smoothly, or did I just get a bad part? The module's part number is VS512SDS400.

Doing an RMA may not solve the problem, because we will just replace it with the exact same part, but sure you can try that!

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
