Vendor NCIX only covers 1 year?

Dear RAM Guy

 

On Dec 18th 2003 I purchased

Corsair TWINX1024-3200 PC3200 2X512MB DDR CAS2 SKU 10037

Barcode 100371267501

S/N 870584001447 Lot#0350045 from NCIX in Canada.

The memory was not installed until this week 10th October 2005.

When the memory was installed, I ran the CD bootable Memtest v1.51 but it did not pass. Not in dual mode or by using only a single module at a time. Nor did slower timings than SPD correct the problem. Voltage @ 2.75

 

I swapped the memory with another identical pair of Corsair TWINX1024-3200 PC3200 that I bought on 15 September 2003 (also brand new and never been used!) and these memory modules passed Memtest running for 48 hours continously. They have different Lot # on package and module (0338066/0337118).

 

I therefor conclude that the 2 modules that failed (LOT#0350045) are in fact defective out of the box. I still have them in the original package with all warranty stickers on the package intact.

 

I contacted NCIX for a RMA and here is their response:

Hi Lennard,

We only supply 1 year warranty on this memory. After that time you have to send it back directly the the manufacturer. If you have any other questions let me know.

What do I do now to have these 2 modules replaced in Canada?
