Module seems to have gone bad.

Hello,

I have a Corsair module "Extreme memory Speed XMS" CMX256 A-2700 C2.

I've had this for a couple years. It was working well but eventually I got a new module 512MB and it wa srated faster so I temporarily retired the Corsair.

Recently I built a new system, moved the 512mb to the new system and went to put teh Corsair back in the old system. I get a long beep and no boot with teh corsair installed all by itself. I've tried different slots and reseating in the same slot etc. System will not boot at all, but this was the system it worked great it for at least 18 months.

The module was stored in it's original packaging.

I install a 512MBmodule (form a different vendor) in the same system and it runs fine.

The MB is a gigabyte GA-7VAXP. I don't think there are jumpers on the MB specifcally related to the memory.

It just occurred to me to try booting to the bios with the otehr ram and resetting the bios... If that doesn't work... how do I get an RMA?

Thanks

Ken

Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.

I set the voltage to +.2 volts. but cannot see anywhere in the bios to set the timaing manually. And there are no jumpers or dip switches on the board pertaining to that.

Anyway with voltage changed, still does not boot.

With other brand module that has worked with all settings.

Where do I look to se tthe timings manually?

With the module in, not only will it not boot, I geta series of long single beeps.

Thanks
