Memory Failed memtest

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently changed motherboard/CPU and upon bootup I started seeing random BSOD, after doing some research I came across memtest86 and decided to give it a try. I left the test running overnight and on pass 7, test 5 it failed multiple times. I am using Value Select 1GB Module Kit (512 MB x 2) on MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard, running in single channel mode.

Please let me know what I should try or what's my next move.

Thank you

Note: I have attached an image of the screen with the errors.

Getting errors on test 5 with http://www.memtest.org would suggest some other problem. Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Here are the part numbers:

Module 1:

VS512 MB400

783-0523051-0-743217

LOT#0523051-0

Module 2:

VS512 MB400

783-0523051-0-743218

LOT#0523051-0

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2700+ running at 2.16GHz with FSB 166 MHz

Motherboard: MSI K7N2 Delta2 MS-6570E Ver. 1.0

BIOS Setting: I just kept everything default. The speed of the RAM is set to "By Spd" and it's at 200 MHz.

Do you need any more information? Please let me know.

Thank you

With the CPU you have you would need to run the memory at DDR333. If you run the memory at DDR400 with a 333 FSB CPU it will cause a bottelneck in the chipset and may generate errors that are not from the chipset.
