HI TO ALL!

I BOUGHT a A TWINX 1024 XMS 3200 XL PAIR lAST YEAR!

MY SISTEM:

CPU : PENTIUM 4 3,2 GHz Bus 800 MHz

Motherboard: ABIT IC7 MAX 3 VER 1.1 ( Bios 1.8 last version)

Memory : TWINX 1024 XMS 3200 XL ( on slot 1 and 3 for DUAL CHANNEL)

MEM LABEL : XMS3208v1.1 0436079-2

VGA : ATI RADEON 9800 XT

I LAUNCH MEMTEST 2 TIMES DURING THE YEAR and ALL WAS Ok.....THEN YESTERDAY EVENING ( AFTER 2 WINDOWS BLUE ERRORS), I LAUNCH MEMTEST And THE RESULT: 1024 ERRORS!

AFTER IT I REMOVE THE second MEM MODULE FROM SLOT 3 and I RELAUNCHED THE TEST and........ALL WAS OK!

AFTER I TRY THE second MEM MODULE on SLOT 1 and.....I SAW ERRORS ( 256)

I NEED some advises or MUST I SO an RMA?

NOW BYE AND THANKS for all!

Stop with the caps locks PLEASE!!!

Try these settings:

CAS Latency (tCL): 2

RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2

Row Precharge (tRP): 2

Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5

Memory Voltage: 2.75 Volts

All other settings to defaults.

Hi!

Excuse me for the CAPS LOCK!

mmmmmmmm

I've just tried with the timngs that tou say ( that timings are on default in my bios)

i 've done this tests too.........

- i tried only the first module in the slot number 3 and memtest is ok ( 3 cicles complete)

- i tried only the second module in the slot number 3 and memtest is ok ( 3 cicles complete)

All the test are made with 2-2-25 timings in the bios

do you have anyothe advices?

thanks for your patience........

Hi to ALL!

I re-made ALL this tests:

- Only module 1 in slot 1 ( 3 cicles memtest complete without errors)

- Only module 2 in slot 1 ( 3 cicles memtest complete without errors)

- Only module 1 in slot 3 ( 3 cicles memtest complete without errors)

- Only module 2 in slot 3 ( 3 cicles memtest complete without errors)

All this test re made with timings 2-2-2-5

the default mobo voltage on ram are 2,59 v

But is it possible that with less volts of 2,75 the rams in dual channel give errors?because in one year the module sis'n give any sort of problems........

can the moduls give the problems only in dual channel?

there is to say that when the emtest gave the errors the pc was in function from more hours......and the temperature was a bit high........while thet tests that i'v made with pc just in function......

and.........the only tests that i haven't done are to re-launch memtest with the modules in slot 1-3 and (module 1-slot 1 module 2-slot3) and in slots 2-4 (module 1-slot 1 module 2-slot4)

now bye and re-thanks........

Hi to all!

I just finished to re-mad the memtest with the original configuration for dual channel ( module 1 in slot 1 and module 2 in slot 3) and the result are many errors......obviuosly with the timings 2-2-2-5 and 2,59 volts......

so.......: SI IT POSSIBLE THAT in single channel ( one module only on motherbaord ) are module 1 and module 2 good while in dual channel are bad?

can i do an rma at this point?

thanks yet!

HI to all yet!

i 've just finished the last test:

- memtest 1.65 with module 1 in slot 2 and module 2 in slot 4 ( for dual channel) and the result : 1000 errors

obviously with ram timings 2-2-2-5 and 1,59 volts ( bios default) on rams

reply meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I just finished the following tests with 2.75 volts with memtest :

- module 1 in slot 1 and module 2 in slot 3 = errors

- module 2 in slot 2 and module 2 in slot 4 = errors

do you think that th eproblem is in motherboard or simply the pair doesn't function in dual?

because a single module ( 1 and 2 ) used alone on the motherboard passes 3 cicles of memtest........

mmmmmmmmdo i try the modules in a friend'smotherboard?.....or do i do a RMA?

Hi RAM!

in fact in POST n°5 of THIS THREAD i write all the tests with everyone of two modules done in single channel ( therefore with one module at once) and the resusts are all POSITIVE!

The strange thing is that thsi modules ( that i repeat: THEY ARE DONE TO WORK in DUAL CHANNEL)...don't work in DULA CHANNEL but in single channel they wotk!

now i suggest an RMA..........first i want try this modules in another system.......

Do you agree with me ,RAM?

No I am sorry I do not. If the modules will run and pass http://www.memtest.org one up or in single channel but not when in dual channel that would suggest the problem is with the MB and or memory controller or you may have a power problem. I would as I posted previously suggest testing both modules in a known working system.

However, I have no problem replacing the modules if you just want to try that.

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

Hi RAM!

I'm AGREE with you........THE PROBLEM could be in the motherboard:
