Bad Memory Test (failing pair?)

Recommended Posts

I have TWINX1024-3200C2PRO in DFI Lan Party UT Ultra D, Athlon64 3000+venice

I would like to overclock but my ram is already failing memtest86 tests and also SIS Sandra test? This is with no overlocking. So I did change fsb to 220 for another test and same errors.

Could I have a bad pair?

Bought from newegg June 05:sigh!:

Experienced Builder, 1st time overclocker question?

dfi lanparty ut ultra-d (nf4 ultra)

athlon 64 3000+ venice

leadtek gforce 6600gt extreme

2 (80's) raid 0

Could someone please help with some moderate OC settings for my ram and cpu (ie voltage, fsb, etc).

I;m especially clueless on ram settings. Thanks

I's start with 2.5-3-3-6 and increase the RAM Frequency in 5MHz steps.

To go further relax the timings to 3-3-3-6 or 3-3-3-8.(even 3-4-4-8 depending how far the RAM will OC).

Increase the voltage to 2.8 from the start.

As far as your CPU goes just match the FSB with the RAM's Frequency for stability.

Nothings written in stone. It's more trial and error until you find your system limit.

You're trying to OC memory you think may be bad???

Test ONE stick at a time with memtest using the following settings:

DDR Speed: 200 Mhz (1:1 ratio, NO OVERCLOCKING OF ANYTHING)

CAS Latency (tCL): 2

RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3

Row Precharge (tRP): 3

Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6

Memory Voltage: 2.75 Volts

All other settings to defaults.

  • 5 weeks later...

I finally ran individual memtest on both sticks both ran 4 complete tests with zero errors.

So now I need run the test with both sticks running in dual channel; which is where i was getting the error before.

Is it possible that it is something messed up on my motherboard?

anyway thanks for the help:o:
