D400 TwinX2048-3200PRO - compatible with CMX512-3200XLPT?

Recommended Posts

I have an Asus P4C800 Deluxe mobo and am trying to incrementally get it up to the max of 4 GB RAM. I just bought a TWINX2048-3200 PRO set to add 2 GB to the system and thought that I would be able to run it with the existing 1 GB RAM (a Corsair TWINX CMX512-3200XLPT set) for a total of 3 GB. When I try to boot with the TWINX2048 and the CMX512 pair installed, the system stalls. If I remove the CMX512 pair, it will boot with the TWINX2048-3200 PRO set. So, it seems that I either run the 1GB of twinned RAM CMX512-3200XLPT with my old RAM chips (a TWINX 1 GB set CMX512-3200LLPT) for a total of 2 GB, or I run my new 1GBx2 TWINX2048-3200 PRO chips, for a total of 2 GB. No gain. Any suggestions on compatibility or how to make these chips work together? Is this some kind of weird Asus artifact?
