Additional RAM

Gentlemen,

My Asus A7N8X-E has 3 DIMM slots. They are presently populated by 2 CORSAIR strips (CMX256A-3200C2-PT), in board slots DIMM A1 and DIMM B1, and operating in DDR mode. I would like to increase the memory to 1 gig by adding a single CMX512-3200C2 DIMM in slot DIMM A2. According to ASUS, the board would still operate in DDR mode, if using the same modules, but they do not define RAM size. I assure they are referring to Latency specifications. Would a DIMM mix of 2 x 256 plus 1 x 512 allow operation at DDR mode at 1 Gig, or will only 3 x 256 be acceptable? I would prefer to only add another DIMM. A single 512 would be great, but a single 256 may be sufficient.. Thoughts ?

Thanks for your support and a great product. :D:

If you want to add to what you have now, you would need to match the modules part# and revision for best performance. It may be best to find another use for the module you have now and just order a Twinx set of modules for best performance.
