Ok thanks for the advice. I'll give it a whirl if it doesn't work I can always return the memory :D:

Just as a thought will the prefomance hit be a lot? since getting 2 gig sticks will cost 2 times as much as getting the 2 512 sticks? Would the improvement of 2 1 gig sticks be noticable?

Cheers again

It really depends on what you are doing with the system. But 2 512 Meg modules verses 2 1.0 Gig modules running at the same frequency and timings will yield about the same performance results in a memory benchmark. However, if you play like BF2 2.0 Gig of memory will increase the frame rates.

What core is your CPU?

If it's a Venice/San Diego then you should be able to run 4 sticks at 400MHz.

If it's an older core then maybe you might want to rethink you options.

I'd rather have one set of the XL's running at 400MHz than two running at 333MHz.

Even though you would have more RAM it would be running slower and out of

sync with you CPU.

There is also the TWINX2048-3200C2's.

Let's clarify some things, because if you're going to try to do what I think you're gonna try, it won't work.

1. What is the EXACT part # of the memory you currently have? Keep in mind TwinXP1024-3200XLPRO does not exist!

2. What is the EXACT part # of the memory you will buy later?
