CMX512-3200C2 only 2.5-4-4-9 !?

Recommended Posts

Well, I've a pair of CMX512-3200C2 and I was able to use them for a while without any problem with my older system (it was running at 2.5-3-3-6 but at DDR333 rate since mobo doesn't support DDR400).

I deliberately bought the DDR400 pair since I was thinking of using them for a long long time.

Recently I upgraded my computer and the new motherboard now supports DDR400, ALAS, turns out one of the RAM has only 2.5-4-4-9 @200 on SPD? What's going on here?

The other RAM seems to have the correct SPD 2.5-3-3-6 @200.

The problem is mainly stability when they're used in single rate configuration. I had to lower the RAM rate even lower to 2.5-4-4-11 @200 :(

With dual-rate combination, they won't even boot.

Any idea/suggestion would highly appreciated.

EDIT: More info;

Old system was Asus A7N8X Deluxe & AthlonXP 1700+ (just checked and this system ran the RAM @DDR266)

New motherboard is MSI K8N Neo4 SLI & Athlon64 3000+

Standard voltage (auto) in BIOS

These are 2pcs of CMX512-3200C2. SPD info checked via SiSoft Sandra

I think you mistook what he said.

The SPD is set for compatibility on the "C2" modules, but does not designate the best latencies that the modules will run. What he said is that to get 2.5-3-3-6 (or as many have found out, most A64's will run even the older C2's at CAS 2) you'll have to manually set the latencies in your BIOS.

Also, they're rated at 2.75 volts, so you'll need to set that as well.
