Memory Compatibility Advice

Recommended Posts

I want to buy another stick of RAM for my PC. I only have two slots and one has a CMX512-3200 stick in it. The specs for the existing stick are:

Type 184-Pin DDR SDRAM

Capacity 512MB

Speed DDR 400 (PC 3200)

Cas Latency 3

Timing 3-3-3-8

Voltage 2.6V

ECC No

Registered/Unbuffered Unbuffered

Heat Spreader Yes

I'm thinking of buying a 1 GB stick for the other slot. What do I need to consider as far as compatibility. I went through the website but had a hard time matching up the timing and voltage. When I finally found a match it was ECC Yes.

Advice? Recommendations?

OK. Got some Christmas money and now I'm ready to buy another GB of RAM. Here are the specs:

Abit motherboard KV8

FSB - 200 MHz

Processor - AMD Athlon 64 300+

Memory

CMX 512 3200

XMS 3200 v4.1

0426133-3

400 MHz 3338

As stated above, I have the 512 MB installed but want to add another GB. According to the Abit website It will support two 400 MHz sticks. Up to 2 GB RAM. What specific product would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.
